This was the flyer for our first reunion picnic

We held the second in 2001 and hope they will become an annual event.

Calling all Ex-Honeysuckle SpaceTrackers to a very special event.
Our first reunion/family picnic day at the location of the old tracking station site.

When? -- Sunday 16th April 2000, rain, hail, snow, sleet, blizzard or shine. In the proud tradition of HSK we will turn up !

HSK on a fine day
We hope this will be an annual event as the date closely marks the official opening of HSK (1967), the Apollo 13 (1969) and Apollo 16 (1970) missions. The event is for all who were employed at Honeysuckle for any period.

It's a COME-IF-YOU-CAN EVENT, no obligations, no formalities, no special invitations, just turn up and reminisce with the old team. Arrive when you like, leave when you run out of vocal puff.
Perhaps even camp the previous night, the night after or both - whatever takes your fancy. You will need to phone the Namadgi visitors centre on (02) 6207-2900 to reserve a camp site.

It's a BRING-YOUR-OWN-EVERYTHING deal. Sunhat and cream, fly spray, blizzard
gear, portable bbq, food, grog, tent, video/camera, bird watching binoculars, kitchen sink, kids, games, car etc. Bring memorabilia if you have any - otherwise plenty of anecdotes of those outrageously funny events. You couldn't possibly have forgotten the HOD, the incredible SIMS, the CADFISS tests, the hilarious Phase One SRTs and the HBR Dumps. Or those long 'action packed' ALSEP and DSN tracks? But particularly all those wonderfully dedicated and unforgettable characters - the SpaceTrackers of Honeysuckle Creek.

The old tracking Station site is within the Namadgi National Park, and has been turned into a picnic and camping reserve with BBQs (not many), toilets and shelter, near where the old guard house and boom-gate used to be. The mountain road (Apollo Road) is still in fairly good condition and the scenery is just as it always was and will be - stunning.

Please let us know if you are coming - contact John Saxon - preferably by E-Mail at
jsaxon@pcug.org.au Otherwise by phone on (02) 6281-1524

Also, please bring or send some info for the data base record per the "tear off" sheet below. The database (by DB king Bryan Sullivan) will become a significant resource in years to come. It will be no surprise to you that most of the records of that period are already lost or destroyed. The database now contains over 250 names, but there are significant gaps. We would specially like E-Mail addresses, so we can keep you informed of future activities (by the cheapest method :-)) and even send you updated name lists as we accumulate more and more details.

See you there!!!!!
